Happy birthday dear Tessa

We spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday honoring the third anniversary of Tessa's birth. We are birthday'd out! We had a great time though.

Saturday was her party with her little friends and cousins. It was busy but great fun! We started out with everyone gluing on eyes and making the maps for their purple felt Backpacks.

Then we went on an adventure to find Dora. We had a map with all the stops we needed to make. First was crossing Crocodile pond, then we had to solve a ridde to cross the Grumpy Old Troll's bridge. Then we found Dora's friend Benny hiding around the rocks. Then Swiper tried to take our map, but we said "Swiper no swiping!" and stopped him. We slid down the slide to get a friendship bracelet, then rode bikes along the chalk path on the driveway. We finally found Dora inside on the counter in the form of a birthday cake!

Tessa looooved her Dora cake! I made it using the instructions on NickJr.com, but the template was a little too big for my cake so I had to just wing it. Not being terribly artistic, I was very happy with how it turned out. I used airbrush cake sprays on the sides and Fruity Cheerios as a bottom border.

Then we had a pinata, of course. What kind of Spanish festivities would it be without one? Raya was so funny -- she wouldn't open her eyes to hit it :) Kilee, as you can see, had no fear and was triumphant when she broke it open. Candy scramble!

Grandpa and Roman also watched the chaos from the sidelines :)

On Sunday we had grandparents, uncles and aunt over for dinner, and then Monday, her real birthday, was a little low-key as far as the birthday wishes were concerned, but we still did fun kid stuff most of the day - went to the toy store (and didn't even have any fits over buying anything!), Costco for lunch (their favorite), played at the park, and read books during Davin's nap. It was a fun-filled birthday weekend!

When Caden woke up this morning he said, "Guess what Daddy? It's my birthday!!" We had been telling him that his birthday was after Tessa's ... and I guess he thought that meant the day after. Whoops.
