Tiny baby caterpillars arrived in the mail the day before Easter. We watched them grow for about 10 days, then watched them hang upside down for a day before convulsing and turning into cocoons. We then got to see a few of them come out about 10 days later! It was neat-o, except the kids didn't appreciate realizing that butterflies poop. Not so beautiful and glamorous. They also did lots of mating and laid thousands of little turquoise eggs, but it was still so cold outside that we didn't have the plants to feed them and they had a short life span :( When the weather FINALLY warmed up (for a few days) we released our remaining butterflies. It was a little scary at first but then Caden was totally into it. What was neat was that they all stayed around the yard for quite a while, like they didn't really want to leave us :)Daddy took the kids to the pond one night for some daddy-time. They loved feeding the ducks ... except the ducks were already really full. Notice the bread in the water? And the fact that they aren't being swarmed? The fish ate more than the ducks did.
Davin mostly just fed himself :)

We love fashion baths.

Poor Davin. This is such a typical expression :-/

Just try telling me these aren't beautiful children. Caden looks like he's never done a bad thing in his life. Soo sweet. They are great, gentle, loving siblings and friends and I'm grateful for that!

This was just fantastic. Caden wanted to make a spider web out of "super sticky tape" after seeing it on Curious George. So we bought some masking tape and went at it! I helped design the base structure, and then they decorated with extra "swirly" tape at the bottom and other additions. They had so much fun! Even Davin was thrilled. He was getting in trouble at first by breaking it, but finally I started handing him pieces of tape and he would stick them on the wall then turn to me and demand, "Mo!" so I'd give him more. I wish I had the camera at that time, but it was in Dave's car. Seeing them work together and be so happy about this is a precious memory.
Stuck like flies.

Both decided to stick their fingers in their nose for the last shot. Totally Daddy's children.

Tessa on one of her nearly-daily painting sprees.

We did an "experiment" and put powdered paint and water in a bottle. Caden was super excited ... too bad it didn't really work :) Wrecked my bottle too.

Child labor: it's a beautiful thing. I love the protective swimming goggles ... on his forehead ...

Cuteness. Yes, his hair just does that on its own!

Hey Tami.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your blog. Its crazy how we are all grown up. I love hearing about your family. Your kids are adorable!
You are such a COOL Mom! Were did you buy the catapillers? Dash would totaly love that!
ReplyDeleteI am loving Tessa's mad scientest/artest hair as she paints.
The reason that Dave likes to stick his finger in his nose every time he has a picture taken is because he is looking for the "cheese". :)
