Thanks to an episode of the Brady Bunch, Caden declared last night that he was running away from home. He was asking for a suitcase and looking all downtrodden, moping around for about 20 minutes.
Tessa had been silently observing all this. Finally she piped up, "But Caden, if you leave I won't have a big brother!" Then she stood in the corner of the kitchen and burst into tears. Caden walked over to her and you could see his eyes beginning to fill. He told her that she'd still have Davin for her brother. She kept sobbing and buried her face in his chest. He held onto her and really started crying then, still trying to console her. Both Dave and I also choked up, it was so sweet. (It brought flashbacks of hearing that Rachelle would tell people, "I used to have a sister but don't anymore" after I left for college. That still makes me weepy. Although I cry at anything.)
Finally Caden said, "OK Tessa, I won't go!" and comforted her until they both stopped crying and we all wiped our tears.
Such a sweet sibling moment. I am so glad my kids love each other!

So dang cute! I can just picture it! See you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I don't think any of my siblings would have cried like that if I tried to run away.
ReplyDeleteOh, bless their hearts. How sweet!
