Camping and Silver Lake

We went camping with some other families from the ward last weekend up in American Fork Canyon. The kids had a great time because they had a zip line set up, and Caden and Tessa (and I think Dave, but I didn't see him) got a chance to ride it. I wisely chose a pass on that one, thanks. This time around I made Dave get me an air mattress to sleep on, and though it wasn't perfect it was sooooo much better. Never again am I sleeping on the ground!!

The next day we went up to Silver Lake with our friends the Archibalds. The Chatterleys let us kindly borrow their canoe and told us about Silver Lake and how great it was. They said the ride up was a little scary but the lake was nice and not so crowded. That first part was the UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR!! The ride up consisted of cars driving both directions on what should have been a 1-lane dirt road that was pocked with huge boulders and potholes that were begging to tear up the underside of your car. Oh, and let's not mention the SHEER CLIFF on the passenger's side the whole way up! I was sweating and moaning and praying and clutching the handle the entire ride. It was seriously the scariest ride I've ever been on. I kept shouting, "No Dave!" and he's calmly telling me he's got it, men have better depth perception, don't worry, etc. Tell me that as we're all tumbling to our deaths, how 'bout. Anyway, it was really fun in the canoe but I'm never going up there again. The crowded lower reservoir is PLENTY GOOD for me!!

Davin playing in the mud, rocks and water. The beach was entirely rocky, and what wasn't rocky was thick black mud that actually won't wash out. Even bleach won't get it. Erg.

Kids on the canoe. Nice spine Nathan. :)

Tessa and Bella loved collecting "gold" on the beach - lots of glittery rocks everywhere. They were devastated that they couldn't bring them home and be rich.

This was what we found as we were packing the car to leave. We don't seem to have as many crazy sleeping shots of the kids as most people do, so this is pretty fun.

That's one happy kid.
