I think the nesting has begun, because I can't seem to stop dreaming up new sewing projects. It's been really fun though! It all started with this blanket. I had been collecting remnants of textured fabrics for a while in anticipation of the next baby, so I pulled them out and threw together this minky quilt. Each square, as well as the back, is some kind of super soft minky-like texture. It is glorious ... and very warm. I know because it was sitting on my lap while I sewed it, and I was sweltering!
I've made 3 of these car seat covers in the last week. I really love it! I was intending this one to be for a new nephew but started thinking that maybe I'd need a lightweight cover for our baby when the weather gets warm ... nah, I'll give it away and just make myself another if needed :)
I saw one of these tag blankets while we were camping and apparently babies just love them. Joanne's was clearing out a ton of trim for 25 and 50 cents a yard, so I decided then and there that I'd be giving it a try! This one will go with the car seat cover but I have plenty more to make! It was quick and easy too.
I've been working hard on our baby's car seat cover and am pretty happy with how it turned out. The quilting skill leaves much to be desired, but I tried. I just need to add some cool buttons on the straps and then it'll be done. I decided to try velcro straps on this instead of ties, so we'll see how that goes. I reserved enough fabric for ties in case I am not satisfied :)

I have fabric cut out to still make a large striped rag blanket, a nursing cover, a diaper and wipes holder, more tag blankies and a few more gifts for other friends having babies. Also need to make a baby wrap. And Caden keeps reminding me that I've never made him a blanket, so I also have that on my conscience. And 5 weeks to get it all done before my evenings are no longer mine!

You are seriously amazing! Those car seat covers are too cute. And yeah, the ribbon blankets are great for babies. Jessie still sleeps with hers from when she was a baby and Lucy has definitely formed an attachment to hers. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are all just so very cute! I love them! I'm excited to see what else you make! I can't believe all of those projects, so fun!
ReplyDeleteYou sound almost as excited as me last night when I figured out how to dual-boot my Windows machine along with Ubuntu... anyone else excited for me??
ReplyDeleteAh well, different crowd here I guess. But I do think the blankets look cool, though ;)
