Yay! Today I turned the calendar for the last time as a mom of 3 kids.
I always think of weird things like that. I remember with a previous pregnancy telling Dave, "Just think. These dishwasher tabs we just bought are the ones we'll be using when our baby is born." He gave me a pretty strange look.
I'm feeling pretty ready, though there's still lots to do. I'm curious to see when this baby will make his appearance. I'm gearing myself up to be at least a week overdue but I'm not truly feeling like that will be the case. Not that that means anything.
I'm also curious to find out what his name will be. I hope someone tells me soon :) Actually, we've finally narrowed it down to 3 names, barring any sudden inspiration: Ryan, Daxon (Dax) or Cohen/Kohen or some spelling variation of that. I have always liked Ryan but it's a common name and I don't know if it's special enough for my baby. I like Daxon a lot and it's a salute to Dave's dad's middle name which is Dixon. But I didn't really want Dixon so I changed a letter. I think Dax is cute for a baby and rugged enough for a grownup. My never-opinionated mom has let it be known that she hates it, but too bad. Cohen has a nice feel to it but it's been kinda popular lately, along with Owen. I hear lots of kids named Owen being yelled at in stores. I like the spelling Khoen the best but I don't know if it's kinda cruel to do that to a kid.
So if you have a vote on one of those, feel free to comment :)
I have checked lots of things off my baby list - bought a dresser, washed clothes, bought diapers and outfits and wipes and washcloths, finished lots of sewing, got all the natural baby toiletries, preregistered at the hospital. Now I have lots of cleaning left to do. I definitely have the desire to scrub this house from top to bottom. Just not really the energy. But I'll make it work ... or else make my mom work once she gets here :)
Baby Stuff Left To Do:
-get a diaper pail (just a garbage can with a lid)
-buy gifts from baby for siblings at hospital
-wash swing cover, bouncy seat cover, high chair cover, car seat cover -rearrange furniture
-oil rocking chair
-postpartum recovery stuff (sitz bath, etc.)
-organize closets
-clean walls, doors, baseboards
-mop and vacuum everywhere
-bathrooms
-clean basement - throw away half our toys!!! -- well, everything is at least haphazardly thrown in the toy room, which may be as good as I get
-wash windows -- I have dusted the blinds and may just stick with that, depending
-freezer cooking
I'm going to assign myself 2 extra chores to do every day until my mom arrives and hopefully that will get things in shape! And hopefully I won't crash and burn too hard! And hopefully the other kids will be nice and quiet and not make any additional messes. Especially Davin who is still half-heartedly trying to potty train and has gotten poop in places I have not appreciated.

Hey I have that same list! I still think you will go first! give me a call! My vote is Ryan or Daxon. Both cute! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYay for baby month! I think Daxon is my fave. Sounds perfect for a little man and will also work as he grows. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Tami, I had no idea there was so much to do before you have a baby! I mean, I though of some of the things on that list, but not nearly as many! I know you didn't write that so you could get some help, but seriously I'd be happy to come help some night...plus, now you're on my way home from work. :) You know my vote...I love Daxon...but I know you'll make the right decision. ;) Yay! I'm excited for the baby festivities. Oh, and sorry, but the 11th and 12th are booked, so no baby then. The 13th would work well, though. hahah
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Daxon! I am only upset that I didn't think of it first, I would have called dibs! I like Ryan too, only because I know how much my mom loves that name. Besides Daxon fits well with the other kids names.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there to help! I am so glad that I will at least get to hold little baby X while there for Sean's wedding.
A lady in my ward named her little one Rylan. I thought that was a neat twist. But, Koen is very cool.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
I like Daxon, and agree that Koen is becoming more popular, my cousin named her son Koen 4 years ago.. and that was strange then.. but now she hates that its so popular.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the name game.. we had a hard time..
