Latest sewing project

I recently finished baby Donovan's car seat cover. I wish I had taken a shot of it off the car seat so you could see it spread out - it's so cute as a blanket. I love the stripes and LOVE the fact that I used several pieces of VERY familiar fabric in it :) Ha ha, Betsy will never escape them! It was also a very successful machine quilting experience, thank goodness - no messed-up underside.

I copied the design from a quilt I saw hanging on a store wall - I loved it and happened to have a camera with me. I posted it on my blog here and I love how I said in that blog post I'd make it for Steve and Betsy's first little boy - at the time I was teasing them about starting a family already! :) When I heard they were expecting I knew I'd be making this. I basically just used the picture to figure out how to piece it together, according to the size I needed. And it worked out, to my surprise! I quilted the handles this time too in the hopes that they would avoid bunching up.

I wish I had embellished the handles more but I hope this keeps baby Donovan protected and happy during all his car seat journeys :)
