SLC to the AZ

Last Saturday my niece Anna, the first Olsen grandchild, was baptized. My parents went to Arizona for it, and since we weren't sure when we'd see them again next we decided to mosey on down there ourselves for a few days! Many people tried to discourage us from going to Arizona in JULY, of all times, but we persevered and it was a great time with family. Steve and Betsy joined in the adventure and squished in the van with us for the long drive. (Notice we put them in back with the kids - very strategic ;))

We decided it would be best to leave Thursday night so the kids would be easier in the car and we would have all day Friday to visit. This was 20 minutes into our 12-hour drive down: 2 kids already out cold! Yahoo! The adults didn't sleep so great, but we were troopers.
I was pretty bad about taking pictures and hope others will send me theirs :) We did lots of visiting with family. Monday was our only real day to do anything, so we went to the Phoenix science museum. It was very interesting! It was stressful trying to keep tabs on everyone (including the grown-ups) but we enjoyed it! Thanks for taking us Poppy!

Tessa, learning about waves.

Watching a volcano demonstration.

These pipes made different sounds.
You had to throw balls up this giant nose and try to avoid the nose hairs. If you hit the hairs, it sneezed all the balls back out on to you. The sneezes were very loud. Gross, I know. Small model of an airplane.

The kids made pinwheels and twirled them in a fan.
Gummie explaining the water cycle to Caden.
On Monday night Jer and Mar took my kids and I got to go out for a birthday dinner with actual grownups! So fun! Then Tuesday morning we packed up and got ready to drive back. It was my birthday so we had birthday cake for breakfast and then left Arizona about 11. It was a quick trip but so nice to see everyone again!
