Staaaa-dium of Fire! (ire ire ire)

We were planning to spend a quiet Fourth of July at home, maybe camping again in the backyard and not doing much. Dave's sister Jen called me up in the morning and asked what our plans were. I told her and was bracing myself to be asked to babysit ;) Instead, she said, "Well, do you want to go to Stadium of Fire ... for free?" What?!? Miley Cyrus was coming to Stadium of Fire and it was totally sold out. Jen had bought tickets for her family, but through a long series of events and connections was able to get free tickets with her friend to sit on the floor, so she gave us her tickets!
It was great fun. The crowds were so exciting and the opening was fabulous, with the skydivers, flag, the jets flying over, etc. The kids got bored during the speeches and performances. Blue Man Group played and that was really fun. They did this funny number on how to dance at a rock concert. When Miley Cyrus finally came on stage the crowd exploded and you suddenly realized just how many pre-teen girls were in attendance :) The funniest thing was the 11-year-old boy in front of us who seemed to be a bigger fan than all the girls there combined. He was ready to faint from excitement at first. When Miley had all the girls to stand up for "Girls' Night Out" he jumped up, then realized with great disappointment that he wasn't supposed to be standing :) It was funny. Caden got into the concert-going mood and was dancing around and cheering and, keeping in line with the kids around him, shouted out at one point, "I love you Miley!" ha ha ha
Thanks for the tickets, Jen! It was a fun night!

Tessa, decked out with her sparkly star and Americana garb :)
This is the only way moms get in pictures :)

I drew in an arrow so you could locate Miley on stage :) Ha ha. We were about 16 rows down from the farthest point in the stadium :) Great fireworks! We left partway through because the kids had had it, but we were able to watch during the long walk back to the car. Dave had the pleasure of carrying both Tessa and Caden the whole way back :)
