He are behind on our logs again! Blah. We need to reschedule our submission time, because it's not working out on Fridays. We are catching up all 3 in this post:
Week 22:
Caden: My first week of math lessons in my new program were about Ancient numbers. I did terribly on my spelling test because I hadn't studied my words enough so I have to redo it. I've been reading Peter and the Starcatchers. I read Horrible History of the USA and learned that Abe Lincoln never expected black people to be treated equally, but he just wanted them to be free and not owned by other people. Piano is plugging along and we're learning how to play the whole Star Wars theme song.
Tessa: In math I'm doing review on addition. I am reading Little House in the Big Woods. I also read Sew Zoey #2 and Middle School Millionaires. In English from the Roots Up we did the word nomen, which means name. We are studying the constitution. I'm still kinda doing the same stuff in piano because Thunder on the Plains is really long plus I get assigned to work on dynamics and stuff.
Davin: If I do 2 lessons of math every day then I can do math games on Thursdays. We have really fun games and I like Mastermind and Swish the best. I started a Geronimo Stilton book but don't love it too much. I like Gifted Hands pretty good. Mostly I love doing DuoLingo and any other subject on the computer. I played Little Bits with my friends. In piano I'm playing Circus Phantom and Bell with Ring Soon.
Koen: I did my reading lessons this week and read a book about a mouse who lived with dinosaurs and cavemen (Geronimo Stilton). In math I am learning about the number 12 and practicing writing my numbers and doing equations up and down and stretched out. My teacher says I'm the leader in my piano class and I can always remember treble clef and bass clef and which hand plays them.
Week 23:
Caden: This week in math I did multiplying whole numbers, subtraction, and addition. I finished Ender's game, and did spelling, English from the roots up. For history we are learning about the constitution and I read Rotten Romans, Groovy Greeks, and Celtics. In piano I'm learning part of Fur Elise.
Tessa: We had a fun week where we went to Discovery Gateway one day and then went to the Valentine's Homeschool Skating party another day. In math I'm doing a review of multiplying whole numbers. I finished Little House in the Big Woods and Sew Zoey book 4. I'm using 2 new spelling apps that are fun, and my favorite is Spelling City. We are watching videos about the Constitution for history. In piano I'm still working on Thunder on the Plains and in theory I'm trying to work out major and minor scales but it's really hard!
Davin: In math I'm doing addition, subtraction story problems. I'm reading a book called Dragon Breath. I'm starting Spelling City and working on my DuoLingo account. We are watching these videos for history that I don't really get. In piano I'm doing good and it's all really easy. I am playing To the Moon and also Star Wars. I have to practice 30 minutes every day.
Koen: I am learning about the numbers 13 and 14 and I'm working hard to make my numbers touch the top and bottom line. I read 2 flat Stanleys in bed and I like the Gifted Hands book my mom reads at night. I am doing good in piano and taught myself how to play most of Star Wars.
Week 24:
Caden: I like my new math program. My last lesson was about dividing whole numbers. I'm reading Ender's Shadow and worked on my spelling this week. For history we are watching videos about the constitution to get ready for the constitution bee in April. I also read lots of the Horrible HIstory books in my spare time. In piano I am learning the different themes in Fur Elise and know 4 of them so far.
Tessa: I finished my book report on Little House in the Big Woods and also did my writing assignment, rewriting the story of Pecos Bill. I am doing a review in math of multiplication with lots of digits and the other things I've learned. I also started trying Caden's math program on the computer and did really good on the first lesson about roman numerals. I almost have all of Thunder on the Plains memorized for piano.
Davin: This week we went to a play. I am working on Month 6 in my Sports Store math book. It's really hard to keep all the balance sheets correct. I am reading Gifted Hands and Spirit Animals. I love doing DuoLingo and I've been practicing my typing and sending lots of emails with a group of friends and that has been really fun. We are studying about how the constitution was made using a website that has videos about it. For science we have been studying aquaphobic and aquaphillic things. And in piano we are reviewing all our songs to get ready for our "celebration" next week where we play all our songs for our parents.
Koen: I really liked going to see Peter Pan this week. I've been using the Montessori stamp game to do my math and adding numbers. I have been working on lots of handwriting and spelling and doing my reading lessons every day with my mom. I can read the word "righteousness" but sometimes forget what "of" is! Ha ha! In piano our new songs are called Treasure Hunt and Finding Treasure. I also like Recess.
