Learning Logs: Week 26

Koen: This week I got a new math book called The Littlest Math book and it has fun and interesting activities that help you learn. It's really little! I like to take it in the car with me. I'm doing reading lessons with my mom each day. It's hard to remember all the words but I want to read so I can know stuff for myself. I am listening to the books Gifted Hands and Eragon in the car and My mom is reading the Thornton Burgess animal books to me so I like that. We have been reviewing everything we learned in our history class this week because we will have a quiz on Wednesday. In piano I'm doing good and can remember the best in my class that it's right hand - treble clef, left hand-bass clef. We did a fun card game where we stacked cards in piles depending if the note is left hand or right hand.

Davin: Math - I am learning about measuring down to quarter-inches. Science - I went to the STEM activity at BYU and there were all these booths with different things. We extracted strawberry DNA, used virtual reality goggles, sat on a nail board, sat in a chair and used weights in our hands to spin, and played games. A cool one was buiding a launcher that had baking soda and vinegar and building airplanes out of styrofoam that could fly. Language Arts - I'm going to finish Gifted Hands this week and I'm also reading Dragon Breath on my own, and The Well. Tech - I worked on snap circuits with my friends and we built the fan with speaker that's played by a keyboard. Piano - I'm playing a new song called Animal Clouds and Canoe Ride. I'm learning the left hand for Star Wars.

Tessa: I'm learning about fractions, it's kind of a review of just what they are pretty much. I'm learning cursive and for my writing class I'm writing our assignment right now is putting a twist on a classic story like a fairy tale. I'm reading I, Q the 4th book and Heidi. For history we did an activity where we crossed the Delaware and got to pretend to be Hessians. We got to row across the lake in a row boat when we pretended to be the colonists. In piano I'm still polishing THunder on the Plains and working on Beauty and the beast.

Caden: In math I'm reviewing fractions and how you use them in life. In piano I'm practicing a lot and I'm trying to learn Gonna Fly Now from Rocky. For my tech class there was a Saturday practice workshop for my coding class, but we didn't have classes last week. In history we are reviewing our chapters for ancient history and we did a reenactment of crossing the Delaware where we rowed a boat across a pond and had to "attack" the "drunken" Hessians on the other side.  For language arts I'm reading Dragon's Tooth by ND Wilson and listening to Eragon. I'm working on my cursive handwriting too.
