Balmy summer days ... all 3 of them so far

We have been having a strange, strange summer. Lots of rain, cold days, wind ... Caden barely even has tan lines, which is unusual!

We've still managed to keep on keepin' on, despite the weather. Here are a few recent highlights:

Caden and Daddy went fishing. They didn't go until about 9 am so they didn't catch anything, but Caden learned to cast like a pro! Next time, those fish won't know what hit 'em!

Finger painting with pudding with my cousin's kids while they moved into a new house (this is the clean-up part).

We made the pinata for Caden's party. I was trying to manage newspaper strips and paste and kids, so I didn't notice Caden soak his hands in the paste and then walk up behind me. I suddenly felt two little hands go "smack!" on my rear, and I immediately knew what had happened. Meghan laughed at me all day long.

Davin is getting into everything! He climbs whatever he can to reach whatever he shouldn't. He can now climb up on our counter-height chairs and will move them around the kitchen, then is constantly screeching from the top of the table or counter where he gets stuck. Not good! I just barely cleaned him up after discovering him on the counter, enjoying half a stick of room-temperature butter. Grr! He also loves climbing over the back of the couches, over the fireplace barrier (that is up to keep him from smashing his head on the rocks ... might actually end up performing the opposite function), climbing the kids' bunk bed ... everything! It am tired of running to save him!

Dave has ripped the carpet out of our master bathroom and laid tile. It took him 4 solid days. It is completely done now ... except for the grout ... and putting the toilet back ... and the cleanup ...

One night I got Davin into his pajamas and went to get his toothbrush. When I got back, this is what I found. Perrrrrfect. I totally was hoping to change him twice in 5 minutes. Gotta love mud.

Thinking he's the funniest kid ever.

  3. It does look like a sewer, huh? lol. It's actually a pipe that circulates the water in this man-made pond close to our house. They have trout and catfish and browns in there, that I know of. We've gone a couple times now. So far only Dave has caught one little tiny trout. I guess worms aren't quite the bait they used to be ... fish are so smart these days.
